Color palettes in a GIF animation only support 8bit colors, that is a red channel, a green channel and a blue channel. Alpha channels are not supported. However, each frame can have a given color marked as the transparent color, causing any pixel of that color not to be drawn.
To enable transparency for one or more frames
- Select one or more frames from the animation reel, and click the Frame tab
- To enable transparency, check the Transparency option
- Click the Color button to choose a transparent color from the color palette associated with the frame
This setting can be applied to multiple frames at once.
To disable transparency for one or more frames
- Select one or more frames from the animation reel, and click the Frame tab
- To disable transparency, uncheck the Transparency option
When transparency is disabled, the value of the Color button is automatically ignored
