Analogous | Analogous colour schemes use colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel |
Complementary | A colour on the opposite side of the wheel from the source |
Harmonious | A variation of analogous where a colour is taken from each "spoke" around the wheel |
Monochromatic | Variations of the same hue, with evenly spaced saturation stepping |
Split-Complimentary | The split-complementary colour scheme is a variation of the complementary colour scheme. In addition to the base colour, it uses the two colours adjacent to its complement |
Square | The square colour scheme uses four colours arranged into complementary pairs spaced evenly around the colour wheel |
Tetradic | The rectangle or tetradic colour scheme uses four colours arranged into two complementary pairs |
Triadic | A triadic colour scheme uses colours that are evenly spaced around the colour wheel |
Tints | Ten tints created by adding a percentage of white to the base colour |
Shades | Ten shades created by adding a percentage of black to the base colour |
Tones | Ten tones created by adding a percentage of grey to the base colour |
